Use it or lose it

We went to the Newtown Arts Festival yesterday and heard the bluegrass band StringFingers play. Each man in the group had clearly worked hard at developing their proficiency on the various instruments they played. I was brought to tears by their performance.

Many years ago I practiced regularly and was very comfortable sitting in and jamming with just about anyone. That’s not the case today. I remember bringing my saxophone to a show where a friend had invited me to sit in. The results were very disappointing for me. I had lost what I once had worked hard to get.

God has given us a life that should never be neglected. Jesus exhorts us to “consider carefully what we hear”. In this age of sound-bytes we scroll quickly through messages on TV, in our inbox or on Facebook hoping to find something interesting.

There’s something God is trying to tell us that we would do well to pay attention to. The life He offers is supernatural. Seek Him today.

Mark 4:21-25 “He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.”Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.”
