Slow down and pray

Prayer seems to be a major part of some people’s lives and hardly existent in others. Jesus was asked to teach His followers how to pray so, He gave them a memorable model prayer. I’ve heard this prayer repeated in public by groups of people in unison and it always resonates with me deep in my heart.

The opening of the prayer is all about adoration and submission to God. At the time, it was revolutionary to call God, Father. Jesus was teaching that this is the place to start in prayer.

Maybe it’s my age, but, I’ve been intentionally slowing my life down to live more intentionally. As I meditate on God as my Father I’m filled with wonder (knowing how I love my children and how much greater His love is for me). Mostly I wonder what has kept me from loving Him from a deeper place of conviction and how I could have missed just how much He loves me. Talk to your Daddy today.

Matthew 6:9-10 Pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
