Then I started to meet people that would want to do things out of the ordinary. My father and his friends had me in a chartered boat fishing for shark off of Montauk. Scott Taylor challenged me to go to Russia during the mid-90s. Les Gilbert prodded me into going into business when I had a perfectly good job. Ed Beach invited me to be on the board of a video mission in Guatemala. Another man sponsored Ibel and I to visit Israel. Many would consider these adventures dangerous.
There are some people in our lives that I’ve fondly dubbed “dangerous” because of their absolute devotion to the calling or assignment on their lives. I find them to be inspiring and a challenge to be around. They help me to see how timid I can be.
What trumps all of this is when I met Jesus and He called me to be something I couldn’t be without Him. He promised a life without shame because of His forgiveness. He promised to live “in me” and that I would be “in Him”. He gave His Spirit so I would have power to do all that He ever asked of me. He gave me a hope and a future. One day I’ll see Him face to face and be like Him. Life is not boring with Him. Walk by faith today.
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NCV)
We live by what we believe, not by what we can see.
