I once had a band we called First Love. The double entendre intrigued me. In that name can be found both the object of my love and the action of love. When we love God above all else, His love pours out of us towards others.
The amazing claim of Jesus is that God makes His home in those that love Him. Let that sink in.
So, what does it look like for us to love God? Jesus said it’s when we do what He says. What did He say? Here’s where reading the Scriptures give us the answers we’re looking for. The only “command” I can recall is to “love one another”. Every other teaching finds its foundation in love for God and for others.
God wants a very personal relationship with you. He waits for you to come to Him and pursues you at the same time. His love is greater than you’ve ever imagined. It’s your choice.
“Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.” John 14:23 NLT
