Hunger pains

ImageI’ve never been so hungry that it actually brought pain to my body.

A few years ago we were invited to Kenya to train new pastors from all around the country. One of our team told of how children in one part of the country they were assigned to were eating rocks they were so hungry. It’s beyond my imagination to be in that desperate of a situation.

Many of the pastors that came to the training were former Muslims and had traveled great distances to be with us. Their hunger for the LORD and to be trained up to serve Him were inspiring. As usual, we were the greater beneficiaries of the trip. We received much more than what we gave.

Many people have an insatiable hunger and try to satisfy it with what will never fill them. This is mostly due to being unaware of what they hunger after. Addictions are the most obvious manifestations of this hunger. Others live in quiet desperation.

God has made everything beautiful in its time and has set eternity in the hearts of men and women. Our hunger is for the only One that is infinite. As we freely receive our fill from Him we are to give our lives away just as freely. You are His plan to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, console the lonely, clothe the naked, heal the sick and restore the prisoner. He will give you everything you need to fulfill His will in your life.

Go and be a blessing.

Matthew5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
