Hard to understand

Every time I hear about an atrocity like the Jewish Holocaust at the hands of Nazi Germany, the 1994 mass murder of over 800,000 in Rwanda or the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, I have a hard time fathoming how people can be so brutal. It seems clear to me that an evil force is at work.

On the other hand, the army of Christians that have poured into the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina to selflessly help rebuild those communities is just as amazing. It is clear to me that love compels them.

One of the most striking acts of love is how God gave His only Son to rescue us from evil and give us a new life filled with His very being and purpose. It’s hard to understand from a human perspective that God’s plan to save His people was by the death and resurrection of His Son. It is often even harder to grasp how God would take up residence in us.

His ways are not our ways. His plans for you are better than yours. Seek the LORD and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. You will not be disappointed.

“Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?” Romans 8:32 NLT
