Can you hear me now?

ImageI needed to talk with someone by the end of the day yesterday. I had spent most of the day alone in the office and my plans were thwarted by other demands. I was edgy.

So, I called a good friend that I trusted to give me a listening ear and sound advice. Unfortunately, I continued working on a project while we were on the phone together and wasn’t really listening to what he had to say.

My wife often let’s me know when I’m not listening to her. The scenario is very much the same. I’m focused on something other than her and barely catch what she’s conveying. It’s frustrating when other folks do that with me. Why would I do that to her?

God is speaking to you all of the time. His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. His words are spirit and life. Yet, we often focus on what’s material and bound to decay. We cannot blame anyone for our lack of attention. We decide what we’ll cherish and treasure. Listen closely.

2 Chronicles 20:15
He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the LORD says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
