Instant vacation

Last night I was invited to go kayaking with a friend. He said this is like an instant vacation for him. As we launched into the water and started paddling I was instantly transported into a restful mindset. The weather was perfect, the fellowship was sweet and the timing couldn’t have been better.

I read that many of the many of the most productive people we might name from history took a nap everyday to restore their strength. Much of the company I keep seem to have calendars that are overbooked and the pace of life takes a toll that is an unnecessary price to be when rest is so readily at hand. It’s a problem God has an answer for.

Jesus offers rest for the weary. God has prepared a “rest” for His people. These gifts have to be received in order to enjoy them. The decision is ours.

Psalm23:2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
