Lift off

apolloI was just a kid when the US and Russia were competing in the space race.  We would gather around the TV to watch these “rockets” take off from earth and learn a little bit about how they would break through the earth’s atmosphere.  A lot of power was exerted to get these huge machines air borne and propelled into space.

It was never clear to me as I child why we would want to travel into space but, I was still caught up in the excitement of the mission.  There is something inside each of us that longs for something more “out there”.  This hunger drove entire nations to invest in a program to land on the moon.

As I woke up this morning I ran to God who is more than something “out there”.  I need Him to lift me up above circumstance to a place where I am inspired and of use to the people He has placed in my life.  He has placed in me a deep desire to live a supernatural life.  I would rather be propelled by His power and mission than anything I could conjure up on my own.

God is greater than anything He has created.  He has made us for His purposes and they are better than anything we could dream up.  His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.  He invites you on the adventure of a lifetime.  Answer the call.

Psalm 59:16-17

But I will sing of your strength,
in the morning I will sing of your love;
for you are my fortress,
my refuge in times of trouble.

You are my strength, I sing praise to you;
you, God, are my fortress,
my God on whom I can rely.
