I found great pleasure in pizza, ice cream, bowling, football and making music as a kid (oh, and so much more). These were the things I liked the most. There wasn’t so much pleasure in reading or long-term school projects. I procrastinated on those things and would become more and more anxious as the due date for the book report or project came near.
Being with people has brought a great deal of pleasure as well. Taking long walks or drives with my wife, going over to see my Nana, being with my children, visiting with my parents/siblings/friends and being in a Christian setting with my brothers and sisters in the LORD are some of my favorite activities.
Have you ever thought about what gives God pleasure? The Bible tells us that our faith that He exists and rewards those that seek Him gives Him pleasure. We also learn that one of the ways to know Him is to love one another. Having a focus on the pleasure of God is the most fulfilling way to live. Our pursuit of personal pleasure is temporary and fleeting. The deepest joy we’ll ever know is the joy of His presence and pleasure. Don’t procrastinate, it only brings anxiety.
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
