A group of us traveled to Russia to work with children in a camp. We were given a day off from the camp to take our translators home to see their families. We stopped at a restaurant and ate more than we should. When we went to pick up our translators their parents had prepared a feast for us so, we forced ourselves to eat again out of courtesy. We got back to the camp late in the evening and the camp director had saved dinner for us and insisted that we eat. We complied out of courtesy and that will always be the day where I ate more than any other day.
A different kind of filling also occurred there. It was being full of joy and the Holy Spirit as we interacted with the college students that were staying at the camp. We talked about the Scriptures and tried to answer the questions they had (since they had been trained up as atheists). One evening we had a time of prayer in the camp directors apartment and the Presence of God was palpable. The memory of these days are deeply imprinted in my spirit.
God’s gift is freely given. He intends to supply our every need. As we abide in Him and He abides in us we receive His joy. Take, eat.
Acts 13:52 And the believers were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
