While producing an event in Manhattan we had seven wireless lavaliere (tie clip) microphones to manage. These microphones run on UHF frequencies and each system has a transmitter that is attached to the microphone and receivers that are attached to the sound board. The transmitter and receiver have to be tuned to the same radio frequency in order for the sound to travel from the microphone to the speakers. The challenge was all of the other radio frequencies that were in the air in Manhattan. It wasn’t uncommon to have interference (like a radio signal) heard in the room. It was a lot of work to get each transmitter/receiver system tuned without interference.
Communication between people can be very much like that. The person talking and the one listening need to be tuned into each other in order for the messages being shared to communicate effectively. It takes some work on my part to clearly hear what people are saying. It seems even more difficult for me to communicate with others in a way that they can hear clearly. In a perfect world we would love each other enough to make this a priority.
There are times where my “receiver” is not tuned into what God is saying. Other voices, who I believe God is and other priorities in life interfere with my ability to receive His word for me. When I care enough to know what He is saying I calm myself and sit in the most honest position I can to listen carefully.
God spoke creation into existence. Jesus said His sheep hear His voice. The Holy Spirit makes all of this clear for us. Listen carefully. You’ll be amazed by what you hear.
Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”
